How to convert Audio CD to MP3?

There are serveral tools out there. Professional might use a commercial product for support and service quality purposes. For ordinary or home user, I’d recommend a simple and free tool with a minimal efforts.
This article will show you the most covenience way and simple to convert your Audio CD to MP3 format.

First of all you will need Window Media Player version 10 or above.
If you don’t have this in installed in your PC, download a copy from Microsoft Website.

Get Ready

Now do some settings and configuration for the ripping job.

  • Open your windows media player
  • Click drop-down icon (top right)
  • Click Tools > Options
  • When Options dialog open, select Rip Music tab

  • Chose location where you want MP3 files go to
  • In format drop-down list, select MP3
  • From Audio quality, slide to the right to select quality you prefered. I’d recommend 192 kbps, which’s good enough for playback on any portable mp3 player
  • Click Apply

Converting (Ripping)Track from CD

  • Insert CD in the drive
  • Open Window Media Player (if not already open)
  • Press Ctrl + O to open file
  • Broswer to CD drive
  • In File type drop-down list, select Any File(*)
  • Now all .cda file display. Select file(s) you want to convert
  • Click Open
  • Audio might start playing automatically, press Stop button
  • Now click on Rip tab
  • Select file you want to rip or select all files
  • Click Rip Music
  • It might take minutes dependes on how fast your computer is.
